Cervical spondylosis, also known as neck osteoarthritis is a very common age-related problem which affects the joints in the neck. Cervical spondylosis causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder and neck area. Sometimes the patient may suffer from chronic, unbearable pain and a high level of uneasiness. The effects of cervical spondylosis can adversely affect a person's mobility, activities of everyday life. Living with cervical spondylosis is too difficult as you suffer from neck pain all the time. The treatment mainly depends on the severity of the pain.

1. Hot and Cold Compresses

One of the simple approaches to manage cervical spondylosis is applying hot and cold compresses on the neck and shoulder area. First give hot compresses and then cold. These treatments increase blood circulation and soothe painful muscles.

You can give hot treatment by wrapping a thin towel on a hot water bag and wrap some ice cubes in a thin towel for cold compress.

Put the hot compress on the affected area for 2 minutes and after removing put the cold compress for 1 minute. You can do this process for up to 15 minutes and in a day do few times to get relief.

2. Turmeric

Because of its anti inflammatory properties, turmeric is one of the best home remedies for cervical spondylosis. Turmeric also enhances blood flow, which helps in decreasing muscle firmness and agony.

Take 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix in a glass of milk. Heat it on low flame for 5 minutes and leave it to cool, and then mix a little honey to it. Drink it twice daily.

3. Garlic

Garlic gives great results with regards to cervical spondylosis symptoms. As it is analgesic and anti-inflammatory, it decreases pain, and inflammation in the neck and shoulder areas.

Every morning take few raw garlic buds in an empty stomach with water. Alternatively you can take garlic capsules consulting your doctor.

You can also heat two to three crushed garlic in oil and after cooling massage on the affected area. Then take a warm bath.

4. Regular Exercise:

Lack of normal exercise pain and stiffness occur in the neck. Nowadays people spend a lot of time sitting before the computer, which results stiffness in the neck and shoulders and the muscles in that area become painful. Regular exercise can be helpful for cervical spondylosis.

5. Sesame Seeds

In Ayurvedic treatment sesame seeds are used to treat cervical spondylosis is. They are rich in calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, phosphorus and vitamins K and D that are good for bones and wellbeing of the body. You can also sesame oil to reduce neck pain.

Take some warm sesame oil and massage on the affected area for 10 minutes. After that, apply a hot compress on that area. You can feel the difference by doing this 3 or 4 times a day.
