Asthma causes coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing. Naturopathy, homeopathy, diatary changes, massage therapy, air filtration, herbal tinctures, yoga techniques can help reduce the symptoms of asthma.

Asthma restrains a lot of issues like coughing, shortness of breath and wheezing. The asthma symptoms range from mild wheezing to life-threatening breathing problems. Though experts are not able to clarify the reasons for asthma, they know that asthmatics with allergies, eczema and those have hereditary asthma are at risk.

1. Naturopathy:

4. Dietary changes

  • Quercetin: It is an antioxidant naturally found in fruits like apples, blackberries, and red grapes. According to some researches, the frequency and severity of asthma is reduced due to its natural antihistamine power. To lower your asthma symptoms take 500 mg of it thrice a day.
  • Vitamin C: It is one of the main anti-oxidants and researches show that if you take vitamin C regularly, you will be able to reduce wheezing by 30 percent.
  • Vitamin B12: It lessens asthma symptoms and it is highly effective in asthma patients whose bodies are sensitive to sulfites.

5. Air filtration

Diminish your contact with allergy-causing irritants like dust, smoke, molds and volatile chemicals such as perfumes, petrol fumes etc. If you have allergies to the pets, then don’t keep them at home or take their bath regularly. When the pollen count is high in the air, put an air filtration system in the house or decide to move from that place. 8. Avoid sulfite containing foods

Sulfite is a preservative found in foods like preserved foods, wines and dried fruits etc. It becomes the reason of asthma attacks in 5 percent of people. Therefore, avoid sulfite containing foods such as packaged foods and dried fruits. Try to eat plenty of organic fruits and vegetables and unprocessed meat and fish.

9. Control your acidity

Some studies say that more than 75 percent adult asthma patients suffer from acidity and gastric problems. Chronic acidity is known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). According to researchers, the acid goes to the esophagus and damages the outer covering of throat and lung airways. This causes recurrent coughing and breathing problems. As acidity is harmful for asthma patients, first you have to consult a doctor and follow some lifestyle changes.
  • Try to avoid acidity causing foods and drinks. Alcohols, caffeinated drinks, fried and spicy foods, tomato-based foods, fats, fast foods citrus fruits and sauces are examples of acidity creating foods.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Always eat small amounts in more number of times in a day.
  • Avoid snacks at dinnertime.
  • Take your food at least 3 hours before going to sleep.
